HAVERFORWEST OPERATIC SOCIETY
After a successful production of The Sorcerer by Gilbert & Sullivan at The Torch Theatre in May this year, directed by Ifor Phillips who is also the Musical Director, HOS have been rehearsing their autumn show TOM JONES - a musical drama by Edward German, based on the novel by Henry Fielding.
This production has been abridged by Ifor Phillips and will be the first act of the performance. It contains tuneful and powerful music and songs and is a love story between Tom Jones, a foundling, and Sophia, the Squire's daughter. The three Principles are sensitively played by three of the society’s youngest members: Fishguard schoolboy David Moore as Tom Jones, Rhiannon White as Sophia and Aaron Lewis as Tom’s rival Mr Blifill - three powerful performers in their late teens. Set in the 18th Century this performance will be fully staged and costumed. |

The second half of the performance showcases, in cabaret, the music of Jacques Brel, the iconic Belgian singer/songwriter of the 1960’s/70’s who wrote numbers such as “The Port of Amsterdam” “If You Go Away” and “If We Only Have Love”. The show ends with a medley from West Side Story. Performances will be at: Letterston Memorial Hall—Saturday 19th November 2011 at 7.30 pm Haverfordwest Cricket Club—Wednesday 23rd November 2011 at 7.30pm 4U (formerly Theatre Gwaun) Fishguard—Friday 25th November 2011 at 8pm.
