New ‘Tab’ Players A brief history
The original ‘players’ were formed during World War 2 to entertain the people of Milford Haven during those trying times. They produced many plays and variety shows until they’re disbanded in the early 50’s.
The ‘New Tab Players’ were formed in 1984 and continued the tradition of performing two act and full length plays every year. In 1990 the P.D.A. re-instated the One Act Festival which was held at the Torch Theatre. Winning the award for best play and going forward to the Wales final in Newtown was the beginning of an impressive record in the annual festivals.
In 1991 the players put on their first panto, Cinderella, which attracted a lot of interest from youngsters. Their enthusiasm for the stage led to the forming of a youth group.
In recent years ‘Tabs’ have gone from strength to strength and has welcomed many new members both male and female. Since its re-instatement, the group have won the Pembrokeshire One Act Festival on thirteen occasions and have gone on to represent Wales twice at the British finals. As well as producing plays, the group have also put on several variety shows and musical evenings to raise money for local charities.
New members are always welcome whether your interests are on stage or behind the scenes. For details please contact our secretary Jim Roberts on 01437 891773.

A KICK IN THE BAUBLES by Gordon SteelDecember 4th, 5th and 6th Central Hall, Mansfield Street, Milford Haven It’s another peaceful Christmas in the Bailey household that is destined to send you scurrying for the Alka Seltzer! Chestnuts aren’t roasting on an open fire, and though a Silent Night would be welcome, all is not calm and all is certainly not bright. And no, Frank does not wish it could be Christmas every day — in fact, he’s dreading it. Jean’s snobbish sister Doreen, her flash husband Harry and their bright-as-midnight daughter Alex are all expected as usual ... and they only ever bring one bottle of wine for the festivities. Throw in a couple of larger-than-life neighbours, Gary and the nearly—pregnant Julie (who they can’t seem to get rid oQ, let the drink flow merrily — Frank’s drink, mind —, and everything is set for a car-crash Christmas, But when Frank and Jean’s estranged daughter Milly suddenly appears, the ru.g is pulled out from underneath the chaos, and the heartstrings are firmly tugged. “Executed with panache, A Kick in the Baubles might just jingle your bells!” TheTimes
